Lent Course
Lent - COPY

This Lent we will be holding a Lent Course on Wednesday evenings starting on Ash Wednesday 18th February at 7.15pm in Church.
This year the course will be Mission Shaped Living: Being Witnesses for Jesus in Our Everyday Lives by John McGinley

At Holy Trinity our vision is to be a growing church — a church where we believe, belong, and become. Lent is a precious opportunity to pause, reflect, and intentionally grow in our faith together. This course is designed to help us live out our faith naturally and confidently in the everyday places of life — at home, at work, among friends, and in our communities.

Mission Shaped Living is not about learning techniques or running programmes. Instead, it explores how following Jesus shapes the whole of life, equipping us to be his witnesses through who we are, how we love, and how we relate to others.

Course Overview

18th February: Being Sent
Exploring the biblical foundation that every Christian is sent by Jesus into their everyday contexts, with reflection on identity and calling.
25th February: Confidence
Building confidence to live out faith authentically, focusing on identity in Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and overcoming feelings of inadequacy.
4th March: Courage
Addressing fear, risk, and rejection, encouraging participants to step out in faith and trust God in uncomfortable or uncertain situations.
11th March: Compassion
Developing Jesus-shaped compassion, learning to see others as God sees them, and allowing love rather than obligation to motivate mission.
18th March: Connecting
Focusing on building genuine relationships with those outside the church, listening well, and creating space for meaningful conversations.
25th March: Continuing
Exploring how mission-shaped living is sustained over time, with attention to spiritual rhythms, resilience, and everyday habits.
1st April: Conversation
Reflecting on how people come to faith and how we can sensitively and clearly share the gospel, recognising different stages of belief. Bringing the course together into a whole-life approach to mission, with reflection and commitment to ongoing missional living beyond Lent.

Who is it for?
This course is for everyone — whether you feel confident in your faith or unsure, whether you have attended courses before or never tried one. You do not need to see yourself as “good at evangelism” (in fact, this course is especially for those who don’t!). Everyone is welcome.
We would warmly encourage you to consider joining us as we journey through Lent together, growing in faith and learning what it means to live mission-shaped lives. If you do wish to join our Lent Course please let Revd Ben know at your earliest convenience. There will also be a sign up sheet at the back of church.
For more details please contact Revd Ben on 07707 040008 or email revdbenbrady@btinternet.com

There is a Participant’s Guide available for the course, which can be obtained from www.amazon.co.uk/Mission-Shaped-Living-Participants-Guide/dp/0830781803

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning or Sunday evening.

Where and When

We meet at Holy Trinity Church (details here) and our Sunday morning Service starts at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you find somewhere to sit before the Service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our Stewards, who will make you most welcome.

After the morning Service, we serve tea, coffee, biscuits (and occasionally even cake) in the Church Room, next door. This is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free, but a donation is appreciated.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Stewards know on your arrival and they will help you.

Our Service

Our Sunday morning Service is based on the Church of England Common Worship Holy Communion, with our third Sunday in the month Service being more family orientated. Our worship is dynamic and lively with a mix of traditional hymns and more contemporary songs as we seek to lift up His name together.
Each Service lasts about an hour.
Our Sunday evening Service starts at 6.30pm and we follow the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) format with more traditional music. Occasionally, (usually every two months) we hold a Celtic Worship Service which follows the Iona Community style of worship which is more meditative, and reflective with 'folky' style music led by our Celtic Music Group.
